Welcome to Association of Cardiovascular Thoracic Anaesthesiologists - Mumbai

Dear ACTA - Mumbai Members,

Warm Greetings!

We have hopefully sailed through the pandemic of Covid 19 successfully and now are back into action both professionally as well as academically. Over the last two years, when the entire world had come to almost a Standstill, the medical profession carried an additional burden of adapting quickly to the new life saving methods for the service of mankind. As the number of the routine cardiac surgeries was drastically reduced, most of the cardiac anaesthesiologists had to perform some Covid related duties. Their knowledge of lung pathophysiology, ventilation, Oxygen requirements and various skills like intubation, cannulations could save many critical patients. While taking this additional burden, the members of ‘ACTA, Mumbai’ never lost their focus on the academic activities, thus living up to their reputation and maintaining the national rank. It wasn’t that easy to learn new technology, organise webinars, motivate the speakers etc. But we managed to do it!

ACTA Mumbai Committee is always dedicated to upholding our theme of “Learn, Motivate, Teach”. Though webinars were accepted as ‘necessity’ during the challenging Covid times, they have their own advantages whereby participants can save time and energy. Our members could login even while working in the hospitals. At the same time, physical (offline) meetings have a different charm. So, the present committee has decided to have a mixture of both, online as well as offline, meetings during the current academic year. An innovative concept of ‘Destination CME’ is also being explored. It can also act as a stress buster. The committee fully depends on the support of all the members for the success in all our endeavours.

We will continue to change as we grow and evolve. Looking back, ACTA Mumbai has come a long way since its inception. Now we need to pay more attention towards documentation and publications. The younger generation seems to be academically oriented, enthusiastic and also tech-savvy. I am sure, they under the guidance of the seniors will take ‘ACTA Mumbai’ to a higher level on this front as well.

Let’s remember the quote by our respected ex-president, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, – “A dream is not that which you see while sleeping, it is something that does not let you sleep”.

Long live ACTA Mumbai
